Laas Geel roughly means “camel watering hold” Laas Geel cave paintings located about an hour north of Hargeisa.

Laas- Geel is one of the oldest pieces of rock art in Africa, Age range from 7,000 – 10,000 years old. Amazingly, the site was only discovered 2002 by a team of French archaeologists.

The government and locals keep the cave paintings safe and only a restricted number of tourists are allowed.
